When did I ever call him well informed or articulate? Or say that I was voting for him? Or call him principled?
What I said is that I would vote for him before I voted for Hillary (I STILL would) and that my brother knows him and likes him.
So sue me.
IOW get over it and get over yourself. ------------------------------------------------ Wow ... this is a man that you said you would vote for if Obama was not the dem. nominee. Take a good look at him, then take a look at yourself. And then see if you can follow the same advice you gave me.

No what I said was that I would vote for him before I voted for Hillary. Not quite the same thing as saying I would definitively vote for him. Hillary is just as much of a flip flopping, say whatever it takes to get elected politician. She and Bill said and did a whole lot of reprehensible crap during the primaries, she outright lied about being under sniper fire in Bosnia, changed her positions on a number of issues and did a bunch of other shady stuff during the campaign. You can give me crap about McCain, but I don't like, don't trust and don't believe anything that Hillary says. While her politics might be more palatable to you, they aren't to me.
In any event it's a moot point since Hillary isn't the Dem nominee and I AM voting for Obama.
So what was your point in calling me out in your original post? To be an asshole? If that was your goal then you were successful. I've tried to maintain a low profile when it comes to politics, mostly because most posters here have a complete inability to respect even the slightest difference in political opinions.
YOU are the one who decided to be a dickhead by even bringing my name up in this thread. I wouldn't have even bothered responding to the post had I not seen my name in the first sentence. I have been pretty vocal about my support of Obama. So why did you decide to bust my balls about McCain? Are you so incapable of letting someone have an opinion that is even remotely different from yours that you feel the need to ridicule that opinion?
If anyone needs to be reflecting on what kind of a person they are I would suggest that maybe it's you, I haven't been one of the active political posters in recent weeks. As a matter of fact, it's probably been since the last primary that I have posted anything of a political nature
So again, what was your point in busting my balls about McCain?

Scot, step out of the darkness my friend. There is light ahead. Do you see it? Do you feel it?
Just do it. Step into Richard's light MAAAAAAAAN. It's so beautiful, isn't it?

I've raised many issues with Scot I have with McCain over the last year. But flip-flopping??? What politician doesn't do that? I saw the footage. It was a stupid question by the reporter and the reason why McCain fumbled is because of the necessity of him keeping his base in check. Can't you come of with a less dopey example of McCain hypocrisy than this?
someone who has said that McCain

I actually think McCain is an okay guy myself. If he happens to elected, he will be a HUGE improvement over Dubya.
> You call me a dickhead and an asshole for it ... what was the point of that?
Yeah, like you've never called anyone a name here. ####

All politicians do it, yeah, including Obama too. But McCain has been flip-flopping so hard over the past few years that one gets whiplash when trying to keep up with it. I can't name another current-day politician of his stature who has reversed position on so many issues, especially on issues of "principle".
> I actually think McCain is an okay guy myself.
I used to, but the more I find out about him the more I think he's a non-too-bright opportunist as opposed to an intelligent leader of conviction of principle and character. That, and I seriously wonder about whether he's mentally all there - for example his repeated conflation of al Qaeda (though granted that may have been deceptively intentional) and Iran, and for example his repeated references to "Czechoslovakia" I find quite unsettling. As well as his penchant for blatantly denying things he's actually said, even just a few days later.

If a hamster where elected that would be a huge improvement over Dubya.

I like all three of you guys - can't we all just get along?

Maybe so, but I haven't been to happy with Obama's hypocrisy as of late either. However, I knew all of this was going to go down before it did, so my disappointment is somewhat tempered.
As far as McCain, look at the tightrope he has to walk. On one hand he wants a piece of the Republican base and on the other hand he wants to appeal to moderate or independent voters. I'd argue that that's a more difficult balancing act than for a liberal who has to move to the center. The Republicans, by my estimation, had zero chance of winning the presidency this year if not for McCain's nomination. But he's not going to get it done by merely being his maverick self.

Well, he's been in the senate for how long?
IMO, McCain has always been a lot more thoughtful than your average Republican. While he can be a bit crude at times, and while he will surely implicate himself as a world-class hypocrite during this campaign, I still believe that to be the case. Not that this is saying much BTW. The Democratic Party is disgraceful enough, so imagine my feelings about the chronically shortsighted neo-con culture that's infected the Republican Party.
That, and I seriously wonder

Me too. I think "age" is a major factor, and while McCain can still be very sharp in town-hall like situations, his overall mental capacity is clearly in decline.
