* Voltron: A Legend Forged #1 (Devil's Due)
I admit, I liked the Voltron cartoons. I loved the custom-made meeting
of the two Voltrons. Devil's Due has done a splendid job in the past of
re-reconciling the two, and bringing back a franchise that I like. I
don't know what the intent of this 5-issue mini is supposed to be, but
if one of the 4 covers gives any indication, we may see something about
the history of the Lion Force Voltron. The art is so-so ... a little too
rough for my tastes, but it works. It provides what should be an
interesting set-up.
* Final Crisis: Rogues' Revenge #1
It was in my folder by default, and I almost put it back on the shelf,
but this was a pleasant surprise. It gives some great background into
the Rogues, touches on the original Trickster's demise, and hints at
Barry's return ... maybe. So far it's the first pleasant surprise the
Final Crisis line has given.
* Flash #242
This title is frustrating. It brings *just* enough interest to keep me,
but *just* enough annoyance to make me want to ditch it. Frustrating. I
don't mind the kids around (or one of them, at least), but it's getting
old quick (hint intended for those who read it). Grodd's hiding place
was too predictable. Thankfully this arc's ending next issue; I think
then I'll make my decision whether to stick with it or drop it.
* Tangent: Superman's reign #5
This issue was rather slow-paced for me, though it provided some good
character interaction. All it really does is establish the threat (or
expand it, if you choose). This issue could've been fit into the
previous or, more likely, the next one, as far as I'm concerned.
* Trinity #7
Back to a slow part of the story, with one surprise that I didn't think
we'd ever see again. (Frankly I expected it to be the basis of Infinite
Crisis, but this should do, too.) The story still has its faults, but
it's keeping my interest so far.
